Talk About Things You Want to Do

What: Broadway's first ever revival of South Pacific
Where: The Vivian Beaumont Theatre
When: Like The Light in the Piazza, raves reviews have given South Pacific an open-ended run.
Who & Why: The Tony Award winning production team (director Bartlett Sher, musical director Ted Sperling, & stars Kelli O'Hara and Matthew Morrison) behind LCT's The Light in the Piazza are sure to deliver Rodgers & Hammerstein's Pulitzer Prize winner with beauty, strength, & grace. And as one can thankfully see, Matthew Morrison appears shirtless in another LTC production. Check out Broadway.com's opening night video.

What: Encores'! commercial transfer of Laurents, Styne, & Sondheim's Gypsy
Where:
St. James Theatre
When: Unlike Encores' initial four-week summer run & the recent Mendes/Peters revival, this Gypsy is here for a while.
Who & Why: Patti Patti Patti. After much speculation about Laurents' hesitation to cast LuPone in past revivals, here we have the show's author directing Patti in a role perfectly suited for her vocal gusto & acting chops. I'm also excited to see the angelic Laura Benanti as Louise, who looks utterly horridied (above) at the climax of Act One's finale, "Everything's Coming Up Roses." Check out Broadway.com's opening night video.
